Israel Idonije is one of the finest defensive players produced by Chicago bears and his contributions both on and off the field is well appreciated by the Chicago community. Israel Idonije Foundation, started by Idonije, is involved in various community development activities in and around Chicago. Idonije has been selected for the JB award by James Brown, the host of the famous show “The NFL Today”, in partnership with the NFL Players Association and the NFL Players INC. The selection procedure for choosing the recipients of the award depends on each team players nominating one player from their team for his commitment towards the team and the community at large.

Idonije feels that it is a great honor and privilege to be receiving the JB award which has been won by many former NFL players. Idonije believes in helping the children in achieving their dreams by providing academic support and professional guidance to those children through work shops. He visits the Alex Haley academy and few other schools in Chicago and distributes gifts to the students. In the last spring he visited Iraq to show his support to the U.S troops working there. Idonije thinks that we can help the needy and the less fortunate by giving back some thing to them.
