Golden 2007 Performance for Gould

Robbie Gould showed an impressive performance last season by connecting on 31 of 36 field goal attempts.  The Bears kicker’s 67 points during the last seven weeks of the season ranked second among NFL kickers.  Gould also set a Bears franchise record with four straight contests and three or more field goals.

In 2006, Gould, with 143 points, became the forerunner for the NFL kickers.  He was only one point away from Kevin Butler, who set the franchise record.  Gould, having 50 attempts and connecting on 84.8% of his kicks, is the Bears’ all-time field goal percentage leader.  He ranks third in all active kickers.

In 2007, Gould managed 12 40-plus field goals, which tied on fourth rank in the NFL.  Since the beginning of 2006, he has achieved 24 of 30 from the said range.  He has also been tied with San Diego’s Nate Kaeding for NFL lead in terms of field goal accuracy from 40-plus yards.  One year after establishing a franchise record of 32 field goals from 36 attempts, Gould connected on 31 field goals this season.  He is the first Bears kicker and the ninth NFL kicker in history to have set 30 or more field goals for back-to-back seasons.
