Bears sign six year contract with Lance Briggs
The veteran linebacker, Lance Briggs, said that he was a happy and a relieved man after agreeing to extend his career with the Chicago Bears for another six years till 2013. Lance is gleaming about his return to his home team who had picked him first time in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft and said that he was a bit surprised by his inclusion in the Bears team. He said that the free agency market is a tricky thing and nothing can be predicted. He revealed that he was happy that he was going to stay with the Bears. Briggs said that he had agreed to play for the Bears on the advice of agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Briggs said that he had offers from San Francisco and the New Orleans, but the deal from the Bears was found to be making more sense to him. Last year, Briggs was named as a franchisee player by the Bears general manager Jerry Angelo and this resulted in Briggs getting unhappy and vowing that he will never appear for the Bears again. But this year, things have changed in Brigg’s favor as he was available in the free agency market and he says that he is pretty happy with the $28.8 million that he will make in the first four years of the renewed contract with the Bears.
