NFL rules tampering case in Bears favor
Roger Goodell the NFL commissioner who had conducted a detailed enquiry and hearing into the alleged tampering case of the Chicago Bears against the San Francisco 49ers has come with a conclusion, after reviewing all that he had, that the San Francisco 49ers are guilty of violating the NFL League’s anti-tampering policy. The 49ers had violated the rules of the game by contacting linebacker Lance Briggs without seeking the Bear’s permission.
The Chicago Bears, as per the ruling, will now move up by five slots to the 7th position of the third round as they will swap the draft picks with the 49ers. Chicago Bears President Ted Philips said that the Bears are fully with the NFL commissioner on the verdict and are pleased about the manner in which the tampering case was held. Briggs had signed a six year contract to play for the Bears on March 1st, the second day of the free agency period.
