Chicago Bears Review

Interesting Bears Draftees

The Chicago Bears have been known to draft a series of interesting names throughout the years but recently they have officially released a list of noteworthy names to be drafted into the Chicago Bears. The names include Frank Broyles, who was a renowned name at the University of Arkansas. He has cumulatively spent 50 years as a coach, broadcaster and athletic director for the Chicago Bears. How’s that for versatility? Broyles, who has never even played in the NFL, retired as Arkansas’ men’s athletic director last year.

A pro-wrestler who plays football? You betcha. Verne Gagne was an All-Big Ten prized selection as a football player during his first year at the University of Minnesota in the year 1943. Alas, he declined to continue playing football and instead concentrated on his pro-wrestling career. He still found fame after winning an NCAA championship in 1948 and in the same year, managed to be part of the 1948 US Olympic team.

Other interesting Bears draftees include Chuck Howley who was drafted by the Bears due to his impressive on-field game play. He became the first player to achieve the Super Bowl MVP award.
