Chicago Bears Review

Intoxicated Benson arrested

It has not been a good day for the Chicago Bears’ Cedric Benson. First he was found to be “drunk boating” (as opposed to drunk driving) when he failed the sobriety test in the midst of operating a 30-foot boat. Next, he resisted arrest and had to be subdued with a pepper spray before being hauled up ashore by the authorities. All this happened on late Saturday night at Lake Travis.

Benson was charged with Class B misdemeanors, which could land him in jail for up to six months as well as make him poorer by a $2000 fine. He was finally released last Sunday after paying a $14500 bond. A random safety check by the Lower Colorado River Authority was what got Benson caught as he was at the helm of the boat, together with 15 passengers aboard.

Neither Benson nor his agent was not available to supply comments.
