Chicago Bears rookie left tackler Chris Williams who was the 14^th pick in the 2008 first draft underwent surgery Aug. 6 to repair a herniated disc in his back and is hoping to gain full fitness and rejoin the team during the season. He said that it was tough on him first but he knew surgery was the only option. He was thankful to god that this injury took place early in his career and not later and he was young enough to recover from it completely. Williams strained his back July 24 training camp practice in Bourbonnais. He was first administered with anti inflammatory medicine but as it wore off, his situation worsened.
