Chicago Bears Review

Bennett’s Plays

When Earl Bennett was drafted last year at this time, he was expected to be a bigger force on the Bears’ offensive squad. But throughout 2008, we hardly saw him at all. He made short appearances and that was it. Apparently the problem is that he wasn’t able to learn the plays nearly as well as you need to in order to be a part of it. Especially as a wide receiver. This is interesting, because you don’t usually hear about NFL players admitting that they have trouble with this complicated system. But you can see it in quarterbacks frequently: they will be amazing in their first city and then they’ll move to another city and have absolutely no idea how to run the offense. So this isn’t just limited to Mr. Bennett but it happens to a lot of players, but he seems to have a better idea how that’s going to work this year.
